Alone is a Dublin-based charity set up in 1977 to help deal with the plight of the many elderly people living alone in Ireland. The website and CD-ROM used to raise awareness about the plight of the elderly in Irish society among Transition Year school students (fourteen to sixteen year olds). It is judged to have been highly successful in developing understanding between the generations, and encouraging interaction between young people and the elderly.
For my part, this was my first step into embedded video technologies, it may be quite old in internet terms but it is still one of the stand out pieces in my portfolio. It was also nominated for a Golden Spider award in 1999.
